Introducing Featherstone B&B

Featherstone B&B offers friendly and comfortable accommodation in a secluded setting on the gentle slopes of the Port Hills, with views of the city and mountains.

Situated on the South West border of the city, Featherstone B&B allows ready access to picturesque Banks Peninsula and is a starting point for the many places of interest in the South Island.

Our tariff includes a continental breakfast - preserves and fruit from the garden, muesli,yogurt, warm bagels, toast, teas and coffee - Fairtrade and organic where possible. Free range eggs,  and porridge also available. Vegetarian evening meal available on request.

Protecting the environmental is important to us and our home and property have the following features:

  • A well-established spray-free fruit and vegetable garden
  • Composting/mulching supplies and some produce and grains are sourced from two family farms in North Canterbury. These farms are certified organic, and Demeter
  • Organically managed bee hives
  • Biodegradable cleaning products are used within the house. Wood from the property is used for heating.
  • We are in the process of installing a rain-water harvesting system.

    Featherstone showcases limited edition woodblock prints with NZ forest and mountain themes, by Holly Lovell-Smith. Holly produces these on a printing press within the house.

  • A massage after a day of travelling?
    Relaxing head and neck massage is available on request, and also  foot massage, using organic plant oils.
